MARSHFIELD, WI (OnFocus) – The Marshfield Fire and Rescue Department, along with the Marshfield Police Department, responded to a house fire at 1104 E 15th Street at 9:27 on Friday, September 6, 2024. The fire, which started on the east exterior of the garage, quickly spread to the attic.

Engine 3, Engine 2, and Ambulance 95 responded immediately, with eight personnel on the scene. Upon arrival, heavy fire was visible on the east side of the garage. All occupants had safely evacuated the home. Firefighters launched an aggressive attack to contain the flames while ensuring the building was clear of people.

Due to the fire’s spread into the attic, additional resources were requested, including Hewitt Fire Department, Central Rapid Intervention Team (RIT), Marshfield Utilities, and WE Energies. Firefighters cut a hole in the roof to release smoke and hot gases, preventing further fire damage.

While the fire was contained to the exterior and attic, the first floor and basement suffered water damage. Crews remained on-site for several hours to secure the property and extinguish smoldering insulation in the garage ceiling.

Two occupants were displaced as a result of the fire, and the estimated damage to the property is $100,000. No injuries were reported.

The cause of the fire remains under investigation by the Marshfield Fire and Rescue Department.
