Suspect in Custody After Marshfield Fire

MARSHFIELD, WI (OnFocus) – On October 29, Marshfield Fire and Rescue responded with nine personnel to a reported structure fire at 708 N Hinman Avenue in the City of Marshfield. Upon arrival, gray smoke was present coming from the basement of the structure.

Crews made entry to find zero visibility in the basement and low visibility on the first floor because of smoke. Ventilation and use of a thermal imaging camera assisted in locating the fire. The fire was quickly extinguished using a hose with water. Salvage and overhaul was completed to protect belongings and to ensure the fire was out. No one was in the home upon firefighter’s arrival.

Assistance was provided by Marshfield Police Department, Wood County Central RIT and Rehab, Hewitt Fire Department, and We Energies. The origin of the fire was in the basement on a bed. The cause is incendiary with a suspect in police custody.
