Athens (OnFocus) – The Athens BlueJays split a doubleheader with Greenwood/Loyal, winning the opener 20-4 before Greenwood/Loyal took game two, 19-10.
In Game 1, Athens piled up 17 hits, with Elle Gauerke and Sydney Coker each collecting three hits. Shauna Belter, Jenna Handschke, and Grace Johnson had doubles.
Gauerke and Addison Lavicka had home runs for the BlueJays.
Siarra Hart picked up the complete game win.
In Game 2, the Greenwood/Loyal bats came alive, using 12 hits and 19 walks from Athens’ batters to make the most of their time at the plate.
For Athens, Belter, Gauerke, Sophia Coker, and Addison Lavicka each had two hits in game two. Gauerke had a pair of doubles and Hart doubled in the loss. Coker picked up a triple in game two.
