The NFL’s Most Supportive Fan Bases Include Cowboys, Browns, Lions, Texans and Bears

Sport fans all around the world will argue their team is the most passionately supported and with this in mind, OLBG.com decided to work out just which teams around the world have had the most supportive fans overall in the last decade!

After examining metrics such as stadium attendance, positive and negative conversations online, and overall mentions of the team’s home stadium compared to its capacity for the 2023/2024 season, the data found that in the NFL, the Dallas Cowboys have the most supportive fan base in football.

Cowboys Fans Named Most Supportive in NFL

This year’s NFC’s East winners, the Dallas Cowboys had a fantastic score of 67.4 out of 100 thanks to their regularly packed stadium. On top of that, at least 13% of online chatter about the Cowboys in the last 12 months had positive connotations.

The Cleveland Browns ranked second among most supportive fanbases, scoring 66.3 out of 100, evening following a decrease in stadium capacity by -5% in the last decade.

Methodology

For each fanbase, we looked at the following factors:

  • Percentage of stadium full in 2013/14
  • Percentage of stadium full in 2023/24
  • The change in percentage of stadium full in the last 10 years
  • Positive conversations online
  • Negative conversations online
  • Online mentions by capacity

Each fanbase was then given a score based on how well they performed in the metrics above. Teams in the overall rankings were given a score out of 50 whereas when looking at specific leagues, the score was out of 100.

*Teams were scored in the league they were in during the 2023/24 season.
