The States Perfect for a Stress-Free 2025 | Ranked
  • The top state for stress free living in 2025 is Massachusetts, with the highest mental health provider access.
  • New York stands out with the highest number of wellness and spa centers, and the highest Green Index Score offering the best environment for stress relief.
  • Maryland features the shortest average working hours, and promotes better work-life balance.
Methodology: A recent study by Ben’s Natural Health identified the top U.S. states for stress-free living in 2025 by evaluating key indicators that influence mental and physical well-being. Data was collected across seven metrics, including the share of adults diagnosed with depression, environmental quality (Green Index), the number of wellness and spa centers, average working hours (work-life balance), mental health provider access, crime rates, and air pollution levels. To ensure consistency, data was normalized using min-max scaling, with positive indicators (e.g., Green Index, wellness centers) retaining their values and negative indicators (e.g., depression rate, crime rate) reversed to reflect favorable conditions. Each metric was assigned a weight, with mental health, environmental quality, and wellness resources prioritized at 20% each, while safety and air quality contributed 5% each. A composite score was calculated by summing the weighted values of each indicator, ranking states in descending order to highlight those offering the best conditions for stress-free living.
