Voters came out to support the area’s top teams, with over 1700 votes cast.
Taking the top spot was Thorp Football, voted the OnFocus Team of the Week, October 22- October 28 with 511 votes.
An astounding four other teams topped the 250 vote total mark.
An impressive second place went to Prentice Volleyball, collecting 433 votes. Auburndale Football gathered 357 votes to earn third place.
Newman Catholic Volleyball picked up 263 votes to earn fourth place.
OnFocus Team of the Week, October 22 – October 28
- Stevens Point Boys Cross Country – The Panthers crushed the field in claiming the Division 1 Title at the WIAA Boys Cross Country Championships Saturday. Stevens Point. SPASH had a team score of 36, the best at state since 1972. SPASH placed 5 runners in the top 15: Aloysius Franzen(2), Ethan Olds(6), Cooper Erickson(8), Graham Ballard(11) and Bode Erickson(15)
- Newman Catholic Volleyball – The Cardinals are headed to state, defeating top seeded Valley Christian in 4 sets Saturday evening. Newman has dropped just one set in the postseason path to the state tournament.
- Thorp Football(nominated online) – The Cardinals took to the road Friday evening facing top-ranked Gilman, and got the state’s attention by knocking off unbeaten Gilman 24-20.
- Columbus Volleyball/Boys Soccer – The Dons were in sectional finals Saturday, falling short of advancing to state but collecting impressive seasons. The Boys Soccer team finished 20-5-2, and the volleyball team ended the season 38-6.
- Prentice Volleyball – The Buccaneers earned a trip to the state after sweeping Frederic in the sectional finals Saturday evening. Prentice is 33-8, 12-3 in its last 15 matches, with losses to Marawood north champion Phillips and twice to state semifinalist Newman Catholic.
- Auburndale Football – The Eagles defeated Coleman 33-22 in Level 2 of the WIAA Football Playoffs. Kaden Anderson led the Eagles with three rushing touchdowns and two touchdown passes, rushing for 184 yards and throwing for 80 yards.
