TikToks Most Popular Trending Songs

TikTok has become a powerhouse for launching songs to viral fame, with trending tracks shaping global music charts and defining cultural moments. But when it comes to true popularity on the platform, “total video views” remains a crucial indicator of a song’s impact.  

A new study by social media marketing experts at Viralyft has determined TikTok’s most popular trending songs based on the global video view count for the top 20 trending songs in the U.S. on TikTok for the last 120 days 

The most popular trending song on TikTok is Alibi by Sevdaliza, Pabllo Vittar & Yseult, with 22.3 billion global video views. 

Alibi‘s ethereal sound resonates with listeners, making it perfect for dramatic, slow-motion edits and artistic videos. TikTok creators have embraced Alibi for its versatility, using it to tell personal stories, showcase fashion, and even highlight social causes. Alibi is also the most-liked track in the top 20 trending TikTok songs, with 1.63 billion likes 

Ranking second is Million Dollar Baby (VHS) by Tommy Richman, with 16.4 billion global video views. 

With its nostalgic vibe and trap-inspired beat, Million Dollar Baby has become a TikTok favorite in recent months, reflected in its 86.4 million shares, the highest number of shares among all songs in the top 20 trending. The track has inspired countless’ 80s-themed montages and glamorous transformation videos, with creators pairing the retro song with effects, throwback aesthetics, and fun transitions.  

Nasty by Tinashe places third, with 13.1 billion global video views. 

Tinashe’s viral anthem Nasty has ignited countless dance challenges on TikTok, earning it the current top spot among the platform’s trending songs. The song’s bold energy and minimal beat make it a go-to for videos that feature alluring dances and choreographed routines.  

In fourth position is Please Please Please by Sabrina Carpenter, with 11.3 billion global video views. 

TikTok’s creator community has embraced Sabrina Carpenter’s hit song for everything from lip-syncing challenges to energetic dance routines. The song’s catchy chorus is perfect for lighthearted content such as quirky humor or day-in-the-life vlogs. Please Please Please has an extremely high level of exposure on the platform with a “creator reach” of 5.59 billion 

Mamushi (feat. Yuki Chiba) by Megan Thee Stallion places fifth, with 10.9 billion global video views. 

Mamushi has quickly become a TikTok sensation, blending Megan Thee Stallion’s fierce energy with a unique international flair. The track, which has amassed 935 million likes across TikTok videos, has inspired a range of content, from dance challenges to intense workout videos. The song’s hard-hitting rhythm is a favorite among creators who want to showcase confidence, strength, and swagger.  

Ranking sixth is Kehlani by Jordan Adetunji, with 8.2 billion global video views. 

The smooth R&B vibe of Kehlani has inspired a wave of dance challenges, often featuring fluid, freeform movements. The song is frequently used in fashion showcases and stylish edits, with creators looking to portray an effortlessly cool aesthetic. It also tends to spark conversation, with 7 million comments across TikTok videos that feature the song.  

Pink Lemonade (Str8 Reload) by Leo Stay Trill & Mr. Reload places seventh with 6.53 billion video views. 

Pink Lemonade, which has amassed 467 million likes on TikTok, is particularly popular in “hype” videos and bold transitions. From high-octane car edits to eye-catching fashion displays, creators use the song to show off dynamic content with a slick edge. The track’s pulsating beats make it a favorite for fast-paced, visually stimulating videos, earning it a place among TikTok’s most-viewed trends.  

In eighth place is Not Like Us by Kendrick Lamar, with 5.81 billion video views. 

Kendrick Lamar’s viral Drake diss track is extremely popular on TikTok. The song’s unapologetic tone and controversial lyrics make it a backdrop for content that reflects personal growth, empowerment, and resilience. The track has a high engagement rate of 11.3% on TikTok.  

Ranking ninth is Apple by Charli XCX, with 5.13 billion global video views. 

This playful, electronic-infused pop track has taken TikTok by storm, particularly among creators looking for quirky and visually captivating content. The song has amassed 20.3 million shares and lends itself to colorful edits, creative transitions, and artistic interpretations.  

Rounding out the top ten is Disco by Surf Curse, with 5.08 billion global video views. 

This upbeat indie throwback has captured the TikTok community’s love for nostalgia. The track, which has the highest engagement rate out of all the songs in the top ten at 13.2%, has sparked a wave of dance challenges and retro-inspired content, with creators using it to tap into ’70s aesthetics, complete with glittering outfits and neon lighting.

Methodology 

 

  • TikTok’s top 20 trending songs in the U.S. (as of October 2nd 2024) for the last 120 days was pulled from TikTok Creative Centre. 
     

  • TikTok analytics data for each song was then attained from songstats.com. 
     

  • The songs were then sorted by total number of video views to determine TikTok’s most popular trending songs.
