TOMAH, WI (OnFocus) – The National Weather Service (NWS) in La Crosse confirmed a tornado touched ground near Tomah on Wednesday at approximately 4:10pm, damaging property near Highway 21 northeast of the city. A tornado watch had been issued earlier in the day, to be in effect until 10:00pm.
The tornado caused extensive damage, being describes as “large and extremely dangerous.” Heavy rain made the tornado difficult to see.
Severe weather impacted much of Wisconsin throughout the day, with reported but unconfirmed tornado activity near Pittsville, Wisconsin Rapids, and Wausau. A tornado warning was also issued for northeastern Vernon County, Elroy, Mauston, and Wonewoc.
