Tornado Warnings Issued for Southeastern Marathon County

MARATHON COUNTY, WI (OnFocus) -From the National Weather Service: “At 9:05 p.m. CDT, a severe thunderstorm capable of producing a tornado was located near Weston, or 10 miles southeast of Wausau, moving southeast at 45 mph.”

If you are in the area, move to a basement or safe location.

“HAZARD…Tornado and half dollar size hail.

“SOURCE…Radar indicated rotation.

“IMPACT…Flying debris will be dangerous to those caught without shelter. Mobile homes will be damaged or destroyed. Damage to roofs, windows, and vehicles will occur. Tree damage is likely.

“This tornadic thunderstorm will remain over mainly rural areas of southeastern Marathon County, including the following locations… Ringle, Camp Phillips Scout Camp, Pike Lake, Schofield, Rothschild, Hatley and Evergreen.”

The warning remains in effect until 9:30 p.m. I
