Marshfield, WI (OnFocus) Jim and Melissa Gwiazda are passionate about restoring the monarch butterfly population.

After raising and releasing over 600 butterflies last summer, the couple took their cause to the next level with the opening of their very own monarch butterfly exhibit at Wildwood Zoo. They are already halfway through their goal of releasing 1,000 butterflies by the end of summer.

Public releases take place around 6 p.m. most evenings and are announced on the Marshfield Monarchs: The Next Generation Facebook page. Visitors to the exhibit can also pose in front of Melissa’s butterfly wings mural and seek out the two box turtles, Millie and Vanillie, which share the exhibit with the butterflies.
