The top half of the utility pole was suspended by power lines and the bottom was leaning against the truck. The power lines lay over the top of the truck and on the ground, preventing the occupants from leaving the vehicle.

The driver stated that while traveling he began coughing very hard and became light-headed because of it. Before he knew it, he had struck the pole. Marshfield Utilities deenergized the power lines after 1 hour and the occupants could leave the vehicle. They were evaluated by medical staff and released. The crash caused a power outage at Tiny Tigers.
