Marshfield (OnFocus) – As Weiler Convenience Stores celebrate 30 years of business this year, one employee has been there throughout much of the adventure. Trisha Mayer started at Weiler’s on July 26, 2000 and has been a staple at the company ever since.

“When I applied, I never figured it would be a permanent position,” she said. “I figured it would just be short term, but here I am 20 years later!”

Trisha started as a full-time closer. When her manager, Marci, went to manage the 4th Street location, owner Kelly Weiler asked Marci’s opinion of who would be good to fill her spot here, and she suggested Trisha.

“I have been doing it ever since!” said Trisha. “My favorite part of working at Weiler’s is my bosses and co workers.  My bosses have been through many stages of my life with me. They are flexible with my family’s needs and we just have a great mutual respect for each other.”

“Trisha is family to us and we are so happy to have her on our Weiler team,” said Kelly Weiler, owner. “She’s a great person and we are thankful for her talents and contributions these past two decades. Looking forward to many more years together!”

Mayer enjoys sharing stories about how the store has changed throughout the years, especially with new employees.

“Sometimes when I point out where coolers and counters and stuff like that used to be to current staff, they can’t even picture it,” she said.

Though the stores themselves may have changed, Mayer’s love for her job hasn’t.

“My job may not be as prestigious as other positions, but I have never once dreaded coming to work. To me, that is huge,” she said. “Staffing is more difficult than it used to be, as with any employer, but it seems once we get someone, they end up enjoying it also.”

“I would like to say we have learned from every situation we have had to deal with, making us run pretty smoothly now,” she added. “I am the longest employee, but there are a couple people pretty close behind, it really is a great place to work.”

Along with her bosses and coworkers, Mayer also loves her customers.

“Getting to know customers ranks pretty high up there with why I love my job,” she said. “We go above and beyond to help people.  My favorite is the little old people who can’t believe there are still people around that are willing to help others.”
