Twice as Nice – Stratford Kicks Way to Second Straight Division 6 State Football Title

The Stratford Tigers kicker Laurenz Plattner kicked a field goal on an untimed down to clinch the Tiger’s second straight WIAA Division 6 State Football Title with a 10-7 win over the Darlington Redbirds.

Darlington scored first in the 2nd quarter on a 5-yard touchdown run from Reagan Jackson, they added on the extra point to make it 7-0.


Stratford would score early in the 3rd quarter on a 9-yard touchdown run by Koehler Kilty, the extra point by Plattner tied the game at 7

Stratford would get the ball with 11:50 remaining on the clock and drive down the field using 11:27 before Plattner’s field goal attempt was blocked.

Stratford would then force the fumble and recover it with 6 seconds remaining, to give them one more chance.

After a holding penalty on Darlington, the Tigers had a chance at one untimed down, and Plattner kicked a 32-yard field goal to give the Tigers a 10-7 victory.

This is the 9th title for the Tigers, winning titles in 1986, and then the state record six straight from 2003-2008.
