Two annual cycling events in Central Wisconsin will not continue this year, as longtime coordinator Denny Riedel looks to retire from those specific duties.

Ronald McDonald House Charities of Marshfield annual Cranberry Bike Tour Charity Event and The Sports Den’s Breast Cancer Ride will not take place in 2019.

“We deeply appreciate the support that the bike tour participants and generous sponsors have shown over the past thirty-five years,” said Ronald McDonald House on their event Facebook page. “A special thank you to Denny and The Sports Den for their tremendous efforts and donations of time and resources. Thank you for your continued support of Ronald McDonald House Charities and the children and families we serve.”

Marshfield Clinic also thanked Denny and The Sports Den in a statement on their website.

“For 13 years, The Sports Den and Marshfield Clinic Health system teamed in the battle against breast cancer,” they wrote. “Denny and Joan Riedel, owners of the Sports Den, gave of their time and passion to make BCARR a success.”

The annual event proceeds benefited Breast Cancer Research & Detection at Marshfield Clinic Health System.  To date, more than $230,000 has been raised for breast cancer research and detection through this event.

Though the cycling events will not take place this year, those looking to support cancer research and Ronald McDonald House, respectively, are encouraged to do so.

Denny will continue to be active in the community, currently getting ready for the annual Hub City Days Duathlons to support Youth Net.
