TOWNSHIP OF WOOD (OnFocus) – On October 9, 2023, at approximately 3:45 a.m., the Wood County Sheriff’s Department responded to the intersection of State Highway 73 and Polish Road in the Township of Wood for a two-vehicle crash with injuries.
The initial investigation showed that a vehicle was traveling southbound on Polish Road and failed to stop at the stop sign. As a result, the southbound vehicle was struck by a semi tractor trailer that was traveling eastbound on State Highway 73.
Both the driver and passenger of the vehicle traveling southbound on Polish Road
where pronounced deceased on scene.
This crash remains under investigation by the Wood County Sheriff’s Department and
the Wisconsin State Patrol. State Highway 73 was remains closed at this time. Agencies assisting the Wood County Sheriff’s Department were Wood County Dispatch, Pittsville Fire Department, Pittsville Ambulance, and the Wood County Coroners Office.
