Two Sophomore Hurlers Join the Rafters

Adams and Hansen take the mound for their first season in Rapids

WISCONSIN RAPIDS, Wis – The Wisconsin Rapids Rafters would like to welcome a pair of sophomore pitchers, left-hander Ben Adams and right-hander Creighton Hansen.
Adams is playing his sophomore season at St. John’s University.  He is a native of Ottawa, Ontario. Adams was ranked as the sixth-best pitching prospect in Ontario by Perfect Game in the 2020 class.  He has only made one start thus far in 2022, as he pitched 4.0 innings, giving up four hits, one earned run, and striking out two against Middle Tennessee State University.  Adams was an honor roll student in high school and his favorite athlete is Justin Verlander.

“I am looking forward to playing against good competition and seeing what the environment will be like in Wisconsin Rapids,” said Adams. “My time at college has taught me that you need to trust the process. Things come easier to some people, but if you continue to work hard, it will pay off.”
Creighton Hansen is a sophomore at Wichita State University.  He is a native of Grapevine, Texas.  Out of high school, Hansen was ranked as the 80th best right-handed pitcher in Texas by Perfect Game.  In 2021, he threw 11.2 innings over eight appearances.  Hansen won a state championship in baseball as a junior and senior, as well as being named academic all-state as a senior.
“I look forward to getting a taste of what it’s like to play pro ball. The schedule is as close as it gets to playing an MLB/MiLB schedule at this level,” said Hansen. “Nobody is going to feel 100% every time they’re out there, but I feel well equipped to go out there and get it done. I’m super excited to see some fans in the stands for summer games and have some energy from the fans.”
