U.S. States Scoring the Most Holes-in-One in 2024

  • New data has analyzed submissions from the U.S. golf registry to determine which states recorded the most holes-in-one last year.
  • Florida leads the rankings for 2024 with an impressive 36 holes-in-one recorded last year.
  • California follows closely in second place with 31 holes-in-one in 2024, also holding the record for the most overall since 1999 at 2,636.

New data reveals the U.S. states where golfers hit the most holes-in-one in 2024, with Florida taking the top spot with 36 recorded shots.

The study, by premium, high-tech golf apparel brand Galvin Green, analyzed over 300 submissions from the 2024 hole-in-one registry, breaking down state-by-state statistics to uncover where golfers are most likely to achieve this rare feat.

Florida, a haven for golfers thanks to its year-round sunshine and more than 1,250 golf courses, leads the way with 36 holes-in-one in 2024. The state also records a historical total of 2,322 since records began in 1999, with many holes-in-one commonly recorded in The VillagesGulf Stream, and Miami. Known for iconic courses such as TPC Sawgrass and Streamsong Resort, Florida is also home to many pro players including Brooks Koepka and Billy Horschel.

California ranks second for 2024 with 31 holes-in-one. However, it remains the all-time leader with 2,636 shots recorded since 1999. Many of these submissions were recorded amongst golfing communities in Morgan Hill and Newport Beach. Known for Pebble Beach and Torrey Pines, California’s wide variety of landscapes and premium golf courses attract players of all abilities.

Illinois and New Jersey both recorded 17 holes-in-one last year. Since 1999, Illinois has recorded 1,119 holes-in-one, with New Jersey scoring four more than this. Illinois prides itself on a strong golf culture, with legendary courses like Medinah Country Club, while New Jersey’s challenging layouts, such as Pine Valley Golf Club, push golfers to perfect their precision.

New York ranks fifth with 15 recorded holes-in-one in 2024. With courses like Bethpage Black and Shinnecock Hills, New York offers challenging terrain that tests even the most seasoned players. Since 1999, the state has totaled 1,149 holes-in-one, reflecting the state’s deep golfing heritage.

Rounding out the list of states with the most holes-in-one in 2024, Ohio recorded 14, followed by PennsylvaniaArizonaNorth Carolina, and Georgia, each tied with 13.

Commenting on the findings, a spokesperson for Galvin Green said “Scoring a hole-in-one is one of the most remarkable achievements in golf, requiring equal parts skill and luck. It’s a moment that golfers and fans alike remember for a lifetime, showcasing the brilliance of the game.

While some states benefit from much more favorable weather or iconic courses, others can demonstrate that passion and perseverance can lead to greatness on any green. Golfers looking to sharpen their game might want to take inspiration from this list as great shots can happen anywhere.”
