HIXTON, WI (OnFocus) – Hixton Fire & Rescue provided the following update on the I-94 accident that took place on December 23, due to icy road conditions:
At 0611 HVFD, Hixton EMS and MAYO Ambulance were paged to I94 Mile post 95WB for multiple vehicles on fire that were involved in a multi car accident.
HVFD Chief arrived at 0621, estimating that there were approximately 100 vehicles involved with at least 2 semis on fire.
Zero Fatalities
As of 1130, all patients have been accounted for, with all being non-life threatening injuries. Multiple patients were transported to BRF Memorial and MAYO Osseo. Only 1 patient needed to be extricated from their vehicle.
As of 1300hrs, it was noted that 50 vehicles were involved with 2 semi fires and 2 passenger vehicle fires.
There were approximately another 70 vehicles that did not receive any damage and were intermixed within the accident scene.

Osseo School District for extra transportation needs, so the non injured could be transported to the OSSEO FIRE HALL.
Several WI State Patrol troopers and Jackson County Sheriff’s Office Deputies assisted on the scene.
The amazing coordination of Jackson County Sheriff’s Office Dispatch made this incident go as smoothly as possible.
HVFD crews are still actively involved in assisting with vehicle removal as of 1340.
