Upham St. Asphalt Overlay Program Starts July 23

OnFocus – The City of Marshfield will be starting with its Asphalt Overlay Project on Upham St. (Chestnut Ave. to Oak Ave.) July 23, 2018. The project will consist of the Street Division repairing some of the curb and gutter along with some of the concrete street. There will also be some storm and sanitary sewer work done along with this project. It will take the Street Division 6-8 weeks to complete the City’s part of the project.

Once completed, American Asphalt will start on its part of the project. American Asphalt will begin by grinding off a couple of inches of concrete in preparation of an asphalt overlay of the street. When American Asphalt has completed paving Upham St., another contractor will be in to paint the crosswalks and center lines of the street. American Asphalt’s part of the project will take an additional two weeks.

The City of Marshfield will be providing traffic control on Upham St. for this project. During the project, Upham Street will be reduced down to one lane of traffic going in one direction only. Traffic heading west from Central Ave. will be allowed to use Upham St. during the construction project.  Traffic heading east on Upham St. from St. Joseph Ave will be detoured at Oak Ave. The Detour will run south on Oak Ave. to Ives St.

The detour will then continue east on Ives St. to Central Ave. Then on Central Ave to the north until you come back to Upham St.  Other detours may be posted as needed.  Speed will also be reduced through the construction project on Upham St. (Oak Ave to Central Ave.) to 15 mph.
