Whether a person is starting out in farming or in a tough time due to injury or disaster, the US Department of Agriculture can help.
“There’s credit is only as long as they need it, and then they have to refinance back with a bank or farm credit. We also have guaranteed loans to wherever a person may be not qualified for a loan, but they qualify at a bank, but the bank’s a little unsure of them,” explained John Erickson, USDA Farm Loan Manager for eight Wisconsin counties.
At Farm Technology Days, the team fielded questions about interest rates and available funds. “We have money to lend out right now, so that’s a popular thing,” Erickson said.
