MARSHFIELD, WI (OnFocus) – During World War II, many Americans spent their holidays overseas fighting in the war. To give these soldiers a taste of home, a radio show broadcast rang out throughout American military camps across Europe.
Now, the University of Stevens Point at Marshfield will be putting on a performance that emulates the hardships and feelings of enduring the holidays while overseas.
Under the direction of Donna Thompson, this show recreates the experience of attending a recording of a 1940s show broadcast on Christmas Eve during World War II.
Using period songs and stories inspired by actual veterans, “World War II Radio Christmas” transports the audience to another time.
The show will be held Dec. 3 and 4 at 7:30 p.m. and Dec. 5 at 2 p.m. at the Helen Connor Laird Fine Arts Theater. Tickets are $18 per person and are available online at https://uwsptickets.universitytickets.com/w/default.aspx?cid=175.
