A sign unveiling took place Wednesday at the newly christened UW-Stevens Point at Marshfield, to mark the change in name.

UW-Stevens Point Chancellor Bernie Patterson, Marshfield Mayor Bob McManus and Wood County Board Chairperson Doug Machon spoke at the event. Students Tiffany and Tara Guden unveiled the new sign located along West 5th Street.

The former UW-Marshfield/Wood County became a branch of UW-Stevens Point effective July 1, and its new name became official August 24 by the the University of Wisconsin System Board of Regents.

UW-Marathon County in Wausau also became a branch of the university. All 13 two-year campuses in the UW College were folded into seven, four-year universities as part of the restructuring of the UW System.
