Wood County Response to Vehicle Accident into Wisconsin River
Town of Rudolph (OnFocus) On July 3, 2020 at approximately 2:40 am Wood County Communication Center received a 911 call in the area of River Road West and State Highway 66 of a male subject walking through properties.
The complainant stated male subject’s clothing appeared to be all wet. Wood County Deputies responded to the area, and later located this male subject.
Through the investigation the information deputies received lead them to a vehicle submerged in the Wisconsin River. The male subject was involved in a vehicle accident and the vehicle came to rest in the river.
Wood County Deputies were able to get to the vehicle in the water and confirm no other persons were inside.
Further investigation was completed and the driver was placed in custody for operating under the influence. The driver, a 34 year-old male from Madison, WI did not receive any injuries and did not need medical attention.
The Wood County Sheriff’s Department was assisted by Wood County Communications Center, Wood County Rescue Portage County Sheriff’s Department, Wisconsin Rapids Police Department, Rudolph Fire Department, Rudolph First Responders, United Ambulance Service and Niemans Towing Service.
