MARSHFIELD, WI (OnFocus) – A vehicle fire early Tuesday morning resulted in one fatality near 8992 East Heritage Drive in Marshfield. The incident occurred at approximately 1:50 a.m. on January 21, 2025.
The Marshfield Fire & Rescue Department was dispatched to the scene for reports of an active vehicle fire with possible entrapment. Engines 3 and 1, along with Ambulance 95, responded. Upon arrival, crews discovered a fully engulfed vehicle in the north ditch with power lines down on top of it, complicating rescue efforts.
After extinguishing the flames, responders found one deceased victim inside the vehicle. The identity of the victim has not yet been released.
Power outages were reported in the area due to the downed lines. Marshfield Utilities crews are on-site working to restore service to affected residents. Extreme cold temperatures further complicated the emergency response efforts.
The vehicle is a complete loss, and the scene has been turned over to law enforcement for further investigation.
