Update 3/6/20:

The vehicle fire was reported by neighbors living across the street at 8393 Heritage Drive.

The vehicle was parked near the garage, which sustained minor damage. The quick action of the neighbors in reporting the fire definitely saved the home, said Hewitt Fire Chief Brian Hafermann.

Upon arrival, firefighters were able to get the fire under control within a few minutes and extinguish it about 20 minutes after arrival. No one was at home at the time of the incident. The vehicle was a total loss.

The Wood County Fire Investigation Task Force in conjunction with the Wood County Sheriff’s Department are investigating the cause of the fire. The fire investigation may take several weeks.
