A vehicle versus buggy crash occurred Wednesday, Dec. 5 on CTY HWY H just outside of Wood County. Responding to the incident were Marshfield Fire and Rescue, Chili First Responders, Clark County Sheriff, State Patrol, and Life Link.
Three ambulances were on scene from Marshfield Fire & Rescue Department. Two individuals were transported to Marshfield Medical Center. Their conditions are unknown at this time.
A critical debriefing will be held at Marshfield Fire and Rescue tomorrow.
2:15 p.m. update:
One child is dead after the buggy they were riding in was involved in a crash on CTH H west of Hi Line Ave in the Township of Fremont.
The Clark County Sheriff’s Office received a call of the crash at about 8:48am, on Wednesday December 5th 2018. Initial investigation indicates that a car being driven by a 17 yr. old female, was traveling east on CTH H behind another vehicle. As she was driving she saw the vehicle ahead of her swerve to the left and saw a horse drawn buggy traveling east along the side of the road. She struck the buggy with the front right corner of her car.
The buggy had 4 passengers, all children, at the time of the accident – ages were 13, 10, 8 and 6. All the children were ejected from the buggy after the crash. The buggy came to rest in the south ditch. The 8-year-old died as a result of their injuries. The 10 and 6-year-old received incapacitating injuries and the 13-year-old received non-incapacitating injuries.
The 17-year-old operator was alone in her vehicle, is from the Neillsville area and was wearing her seatbelt.
The Chili Area First Responders and Fire Department responded to the scene with the Marshfield Fire Department Ambulance, Life Link helicopter, the Clark County Sheriff’s Office and Wisconsin State Patrol.
This is the 6th traffic fatality in Clark County for 2018.
