CLARK COUNTY, WI (OnFocus) – The Clark County Highway department took time to honor both a fallen and injured coworker.
David Murphy was responding to a report that a tree that had fallen on the roadway with coworker Russell Opelt on the night of August 8th when the duo was hit by a vehicle.
Despite being injured, Murphy was able to call 9-1-1 shortly after the incident and possibly saved his own life by doing so. After more than two weeks in the hospital, Murphy was deemed well enough to go home and continue his recovery.
On Friday, Murphy was led home from the hospital by friends, family and coworkers. A convoy of Clark County Highway workers, Clark County Sheriff’s Department vehicles, and more ushered Murphy to his home.
A similar display of support from the Clark County Highway Department and the community was put on when family and friends laid Opelt to rest.
