The National Federation of State High School Association has announced rules changes for the 2021 season.
The NFHS Volleyball Rules Committee recommended three rules changes at its January 10-12 virtual meeting, all approved by the NFHS Board of Directors.
Volleyball Rules Changes for 2021
- Amended Rule 4-1-6: Head coverings worn for religious reasons are NOT CONSIDERED HAIR DEVICES and do not require state association approval to be worn. (Must be made of non-abrasive or soft material and fit securely.)
- Note: Head coverings worn for medical reasons still require state association approval.
- in Rule 7-1-4 for a late submission of a lineup was LESSENED, same as penalty for a late roster.
- Rule 5-3-1a allows for officials to wear: WHITE / BLUE / GRAY collared shirt, as determined by state association.
