Rabbit Foster Homes Urgently Needed
MARSHFIELD, WI (OnFocus) – Thirteen domestic bunnies were rescued recently from a home in Shawano, Wisconsin. Marshfield area rescue Oscar’s Rabbit Rescue is helping coordinate transportation for these bunnies and also seeking local foster homes to help with rising surrenders in Central Wisconsin.
“The rescue is looking for a volunteer who can help drive bunnies from Shawano in this situation, but we are also looking for anyone interested in helping drive in the future. We want to have a list ready in case a situation arises,” said Brittany Graves, founder.
Foster homes are also needed in Marshfield to help with the abundance of surrendered bunnies and bunnies without homes.
“These bunnies thrive in good homes and environments,” said Graves. “They go from hiding and terrified to social and fun. It just takes someone willing to give them a chance. Foster homes and adopters give them that chance.”
If you can help, contact Graves at (715) 502-9811 (Text or Call) or [email protected]. Donations are also needed. Visit www.oscarsrabbitrescue.org for details, or their facebook page here.
She added that rescues nationwide are overfilled and struggling, and many shelters don’t accept rabbits – making the situation more difficult. Bunny vet care is also especially expensive and complicated, straining resources.
“Every little bit helps – whether you can donate, drive, foster, or adopt, we appreciate it!” said Graves.
