Wausau Cyclones split with Milwaukee, Remains in Solid Position for Playoffs

Wausau, WI – The Wausau Cyclones took on the Milwaukee Power over the weekend as the Cyclones focused on taking care of business versus the team chasing them in the playoff race. Wausau picked up a 2-1 win on Friday and fell 5-1 on the home ice Saturday, which moved their season record to (17-19-1-1). After earning 2 of 4 points possible on the weekend Wausau now has a ten-point lead for the final playoff spot with just 9 games remaining.

Friday night Wausau got on the scoreboard quickly, as forward Luke Anderson netted his 9th goal of the season at 2:23. The contest stayed 1-0 good guys until 5:40 of the third when Milwaukee forward Mason Ausmus lit the lamp with his 13th of the season. Blake Neill provided the game winning goal at 8:35 of the third period. The goal was assisted by Luke Anderson and Chase Heckerson. Zach Dosan picked up the win after stopping 33 of 34 shots.

Saturday’s match up in front of a capacity crowd got off to a rough start for the home team. Milwaukee netted three goals in the first 13 minutes of action. The Cyclones lone goal came at 38 seconds of the second period by Dominick Bourdon. Milwaukee added two additional goals late in the game to provide them a 5-1 win. Mitch Miscevich took the loss in net for Wausau.
