WVC Rivals clashed in the opening round of the football playoffs, and it was Wausau West that picked up a 28-14 Level 1 win over Wisconsin Rapids, 28-14.
Wisconsin Rapids scored first on an 11 yard run from Senior Quarterback Teal Lucas, countered by his Wausau West counterpart, Vince Hainz, who scored on a 7 yard run.
The second quarter saw scores from each teamś standout running back. Rapids´ Leo Brostowitz scoredon a 1 yard run and then Wausau Westś Ray Reineck picked up a 15 yard touchdown, tying the game at 14 going into halftime.
West came out in the third quarter with a pair of scores. Reineck scored from 4 yards out and then Bryce Jaworski scored on a 22 yard toss from Hainz to end the gameś scoring.
