As we are now in the swing of the winter sports season with all sports now competing, we will be previewing the week ahead in local high school sports every Tuesday, and we start previewing a busy week.
Game of the Week
Colby @ Stratford Girls Basketball, Friday at 7:15PM
Both teams will be looking to build on last year’s success in this non-conference game, with both teams falling in the regional finals a year ago. Stratford has a big win over Edgar a week ago and will travel to take on Tomah tonight and Rib Lake on Thursday. Colby is 1-1 on the year with a loss to open the season to a good Columbus Catholic team and then getting a win a week ago, taking down a traditional Cloverbelt power in Owen-Withee. Colby plays Gilman Thursday night leading into this big matchup.
Rivalry Game
Spencer @ Columbus Boys Basketball, Friday at 7:15PM
A matchup of familiar foes, many of these players just finished playing as teammates during the football season and will now meet as opponents on the basketball court. It will be interesting to see how Columbus Catholic fills the large shoes left by Tyler Fuerlinger and Hunter Schultz and others from last years state semifinals team.
