Successful T-Shirt Fundraiser Benefits Local Animals
Last month, Weiler Convenience Stores in Marshfield began selling specially designed t-shirts to raise funds for three local animal welfare organizations: Marshfield Area Pet Shelter (MAPS), Clark County Humane Society (CCHS), and the Midwest Horse Welfare Foundation.
“Shelters don’t have an income, so they need all funding that any company or person can raise,” said Kelly Weiler, owner. She added that being locally-owned, she enjoys giving back to the community where she lives and works.
Featuring bright colors and the slogan “You can’t buy love, but you can rescue it!”, the shirts sold out quickly. Donors also gave generously, with one individual matching donations up to $500.
In total, the fundraiser raised $6,000. All funds raised went directly to the rescues, with Weiler having donated all costs of the shirts. Shirts were printed locally at Premier Printing in Marshfield.
On September 19, Kelly presented a check for $2,000 to each of the three rescues.
“As a nonprofit organization, it’s really vital to have community support,” said Michelle Tesmer, CCHS. “It’s wonderful that Weiler’s included us and we appreciate their efforts in supporting animals in need in our area.”
“It’s a huge deal for us,” said Midwest Horse Welfare Foundation’s Karen Bayerl, adding that the funds would be used to help pay for hay, which has increased dramatically in price recently.
“Many thanks to Weilers for donating the proceeds of this incredible fundraiser,” said Karen Rau, MAPS Executive Director. “We appreciate the outpouring of support for this event. The funds will help provide medical care and daily supplies for our many precious pets.”
Weiler thanks everyone for their support and hopes to do more fundraisers in the near future.
