What Would NFL Fans Give Up For Their Team To Win? – RotoGrinders
RotoGrinders surveyed over 3,000 NFL fans to find out what they would give up to:
- To see their team win the Super Bowl
- To play for their favorite team
- To meet their favorite player.
We were also wondering how many of you would bunk off work to attend a victory parade. Perhaps unsurprisingly, it’s the majority of fans, but do read on for the full results below!
What Would You Give Up To See Your Team Win The Super Bowl?
Of the 3000 fans we surveyed, most would give up a date with their celebrity crush, with 22% willing to do this.
Clearly, a monetary value can be placed on their team winning the Super Bowl, with 15% willing to give up a winning bet of $2000.

One-in-eight NFL fans would skip and give up a family wedding if it meant their beloved team won the Super Bowl. Perhaps unsurprisingly, 14% of single and 14% of divorced NFL fans would skip a family wedding to see their team win the Superbowl – the same result for different reasons perhaps!
Moving to a slightly more morbid topic, 8% of male NFL fans would skip a funeral of a close family member if it meant their team won the Super Bowl.

Moving into the results divided by fanbase, we get some interesting variations.
15% of Colts fans would forgo an annual bonus to see them win the Super Bowl – after such a long wait, is this surprising?

Again, the results follow a similar pattern, with the majority of fans, 18%, willing to skip a date with their celebrity crush to play for their favorite NFL team. They would also happily skip an all-expenses paid trip to a Las Vegas casino.

However, when we divide the results by gender, we get some differences between the responses from male and female NFL fans.
20% of men would give up a winning bet of $2000 vs 9% of women. In addition, 17% of men would give up the last ever concert of their favorite artist vs 8% of women.
A theme seems to be emerging, as men are more willing to part with money than women when it comes to earning a spot on their favorite team! 14% of men would forgo an annual bonus vs 5% of women.
Female NFL fans seem less keen to sacrifice a family wedding in order to play alongside their favorite players, with 12% of men skipping a family wedding vs 7% of women.
Fanbases: what would they give up to play for their team?
Jets fans are apparently willing to give up a fair bit in order to play in their beloved green jersey.
19% of the Jets fan base would give up a family wedding if it meant they could play at the MetLife Stadium.

Minnesota fans are quick to give up any chance of love with their celebrity crush – 31% of Vikings fanatics are happy to swerve a date with their celebrity crush, wanting instead to meet their favorite player! More so than any other fan base.

Would NFL Fans Skip Work To Attend a Super Bowl Victory Parade?

Your team has finally done it – they’ve won the Super Bowl. But, suddenly you realize you don’t have the day off work after Super Bowl Sunday. Would you call in sick? Would you bunk off work on Monday? Well, for the majority of NFL fans, the answer is yes!
In fact, 60% of NFL fans either strongly or somewhat agree that they would skip work to attend the victory parade.
There seems to be a small variation when fans are divided along political lines – 64% of Democrats either strongly or somewhat agree vs 60% of Republicans.
Fanbases: which ones would skip work to attend a Super Bowl victory parade?
Cleveland Browns fans are the most eager to skip work, with 77% of them either strongly or somewhat agreeing that they would bunk off work if the Browns won.
In a close second comes Bengals fans at a combined 72%, followed by Buccaneers fans at 70%.
In terms of fan bases that had the most negative response to the above question, Bills and Raiders fans topped the survey response for this question – 30% of both fan bases either strongly or somewhat disagreed with the statement.
Methodology
The research was commissioned by the Action Network and was carried out online by Research Without Barriers (RWB). The survey was conducted between 31st July 2024 and 5th August 2024. The sample comprised 3,013 USA NFL fans.
