Funds To Promote Mental Health Initiatives in Marshfield School District & Alternative School

MARSHFIELD, WI (OnFocus) – Wheelers Family Auto Group is pleased to announce that it has been honored with a Dealer Diversity Grant from General Motors (GM). This grant, entitled the “Marshfield School Based Mental Health Consortium – Removing Barriers Project, is a testament to the ongoing commitment of Wheelers Family Auto Group to support the local community.

The substantial grant, which will be awarded through the Marshfield Area Community Foundation, will assess youth/family need related to mental health and provide resources to improve mental health and/or access to services for at least 100 youth throughout the school district.

Mary Jo Wheeler-Schueller, co-owner of Wheelers Family Auto Group, alongside her brother Daniel, expressed her gratitude for receiving the GM Dealer Diversity Grant. She highlighted the stringent selection criteria set by GM and is enthusiastic about collaborating with District Mental Health Navigator/Coordinator Joanne Greenlee.

Greenlee will work closely with Kim Heeg (School Social Worker at the Alternative School), Jamie DeFelice (Alt School Principal), and the Alt School staff to help meet the needs of students at the Alternative High School. The Alt School will be a special focus, with funds to be used throughout the district/community for students in need. Helping facilitate that association will be retired teacher, Scott Scheuer.

Wheeler-Schueller emphasized her vision for the grant, stating, “My hope is that kids can get a hand up and not a handout. We want to help provide them with opportunities.”

Wheelers Family Auto Group, GM, and the Marshfield Area Community Foundation are excited to see the positive impact this grant will have on the students of Marshfield Alternative High School and the local community. Through initiatives like this, they aim to uplift and empower the next generation.
