Which States Are Searching the Most for April Fools’ Prank Tips to Pull Off This Monday?

  • Wyoming, Idaho, and Utah ranked as the top prankster states most likely to pull a prank this Monday
  • Among the most frequently Googled terms related to pranks were ‘office April Fools pranks’ and ‘April Fools fake spider prank’, while some individuals are aiming for more extreme pranks such as ‘April Fools fake pregnancy test’

April Fools’ Day is a caution-filled day due to all the tricks potentially coming your way. And Wyomingites might have it worse than most places.

While the whole country is planning to play a prank on April Fools, it turns out some states are taking it to the next level by turning to Google for tips and tricks for pranks.

With April Fools’ Day just around the corner, the research team at Ask Optimo decided to find out the top prankster states in America.

The study analyzed Google searches over the last week of more than 2,000 keywords around the terms “pranks” and “April Fools” to see which states are preparing the most for their April Fools Day pranks to launch at their friends and loved ones.

Wyomingites better stay on their toes come Monday, April 1, as the study ranks Wyoming as a top prankster state, with 3,599 searches for April Fools pranks per 100,000 population.

Folks in Wyoming seem focused on office humor, with their top searches being ‘office April Fools pranks’ and ‘appropriate jokes for work’. Keep an eye out at the office!

Idaho is No.2 most likely planning to pull jump scares this year with 3,010 searches per 100K. Residents of the Gem State are ramping up their prank game, with ‘April Fools fake spider prank’ making it to their top searches.

Utah also ranks as one of America’s states most likely to prank in third place. With nearly 3 thousand searches per 100K, the state’s residents prefer to keep it simple, as shown by their top searches for ‘April Fool prank call ideas’ and ‘April Fool prank text messages.’

Rounding out the top five states where it’s most likely to pull pranks are Vermont and Colorado.

Vermonters seem to be brave enough to target their bosses, with ‘best April Fools prank for your boss’ their top search, while Coloradans are taking their prank strategies to social media, with ‘April Fools ideas on social media’ topping their search list.

North Dakota comes in sixth place with 2,872 searches per 100K. Residents of the Peace Garden State are ramping up their prank game, with ‘April Fools fake pregnancy test’ making it to their top searches. Looks like some family members could be in for an emotional roller coaster.

If you’re aiming to steer clear of April Fools’ mischief, your best bet is to head to Texas, Oklahoma, Arkansas, Louisiana, and Mississippi, which sit at the bottom of the list as the states least likely to pull pranks.
