WIAA Continues Partnership with InSideOut Initiative

STEVENS POINT, Wis. –  The InSideOut Initiative co-founders Joe Ehrmann and Jody Redman will launch InSideOut School Implementation Team (SIT) Training on Wednesday, Sept. 6, at historic Lambeau Field in Green Bay, Wis. The training will take place in partnership with the Green Bay Packers, National Football League Foundation, and Wisconsin Interscholastic Athletic Association.

“The SIT training is designed to guide athletic administrators and their team through the InSideOut Five-Step Pathway,” said Jody Redman, “with the goal of building a Purpose-Based Sports Culture in school athletic programs.” An InSideOut School Implementation Team includes a school’s athletic administrator, the head football coach or other male coach of influence, a female head coach of influence, and an additional school administrator or leader.

More than 150 coaches, athletic directors, and school administrators are registered to participate in the training program. Each participant will develop “Transformational Purpose Statement” and receive a copy of Ehrmann’s book, InSideOut Coaching: How Sports Can Transform Lives.

“Our goal in launching the InSideOut Initiative is – and remains – to transform the ‘win-at-all-costs’ sports culture so prevalent in sports today,” said Joe Ehrmann, a 13-year NFL veteran. “Coaches and administrators who participate in our training programs gain a greater awareness of the true purpose of sports, focusing on and directing resources to making a positive impact in the lives of students.”

“We are excited to be a partner along with the Green Bay Packers and other education organizations by continuing to offer the InSideOut Initiative to our member schools,” WIAA Executive Director Stephanie Hauser said. “We believe the foundation of the InSideOut Initiative supports the goals of education-based athletics and will enhance the positive experiences that high school sports provide.”

“We look forward to having our participating schools back at Lambeau Field as they continue their training of the InSideOut curriculum,” said Packers football outreach manager Ryan Fencl.  “Equipping our schools with the tools and training needed to enhance the lives of their student athletes will not only benefit their athletic programs, but their communities as well through InSideOut’s Purposed-Based approach.”

A national movement supported in part by the National Football League Foundation, the InSideOut Initiative empowers and equips school communities to implement Purpose-Based Sports, connecting students to transformational coaches, in a culture of belonging, for their human growth and development. Joe Ehrmann and Jody Redman are thought leaders of Purpose-Based Sports. InSideOut provides professional development to school administrators, athletic directors, teachers and coaches.
