WIAA releases brackets for Divisions 2-5 for upcoming high school softball playoffs

Brackets for Divisions 2, 4 and 5 were released on Sunday for the upcoming 2019 WIAA Softball Tournament.

Play begins with regional quarterfinals in Divisions 2-5 on Thursday, May 16. Regional semifinals in all five divisions are Tuesday, May 21, and regional finals are scheduled for Thursday, May 23.

Sectionals are May 28 and May 30, with sectional champions qualifying for the 2019 WIAA State Softball Tournament at the Goodman Diamonds in Madison on June 6-8.

Division 1 brackets will be announced later this week.

A number of central Wisconsin teams are in the Division 4 Sectional 3 bracket.

Stevens Point Pacelli is the top seed in the bottom half of the bracket and will play the winner of Pardeeville and Rosholt on May 21 at home.

Auburndale is the No. 4 seed in that side of the bracket and will host No. 5 Markesan in a regional semifinal May 21. The winner of that game likely takes on No. 1 Pacelli.

Marathon earned a No. 2 seed and will play the winner of a regional quarterfinal of No. 10 Edgar at No. 7 Montello. Athens is the No. 6 seed and will play a regional semifinal at No. 3 Princeton/Green Lake. The winners meet in a regional final May 23.

On the top half of the Sectional 3 bracket, No. 9 Pittsville plays a regional quarterfinal at No. 8 Whitehall on Thursday. The winner plays at No. 1 Bangor on May 21.

Spencer is the No. 5 seed and will take to the road and play at No. 4 Cashton on May 21.

In the Sectional 1 bracket in Division 5, Loyal is the No. 4 seed and will play a home game against No. 5 Flambeau in a regional semifinal May 21.

Owen-Withee is the No. 10 seed in the top half and will play at No. 7 Bruce. The winner takes on No. 2 Gilman in a regional semifinal May 21. No. 3 Greenwood earned a first-round bye and will host No. 6 Prairie Farm on May 21.

In Sectional 2, Wausau Newman Catholic is the No. 8 seed and hosts No. 9 Marion in a regional quarterfinal on Thursday. The winner plays at No. 1 Almond-Bancroft on May 21.

Marshfield Columbus also earned a home game as the No. 4 seed. The Dons will host No. 5 Northland Lutheran/Wisconsin Valley Lutheran in a regional semifinal May 21 at the Marshfield Fairgrounds at 5 p.m.

Wisconsin Rapids Assumption is the No. 2 seed and earned a first-round bye. The Royals host the winner of No. 10 Port Edwards at No. 7 Tigerton on May 21.

In the Division 2 Sectional 1 bracket, Mosinee is the No. 1 seed and hosts the winner of No. 9 Ashland at No. 8 Rhinelander on May 21. Medford is the No. 4 seed and will host No. 5 Lakeland, also on May 21. The winners will play for the regional title on May 23.

Colby/Abbotsford is the No. 7 seed and plays at No. 2 Merrill in a regional semifinal on May 21.

In the Sectional 1 bracket in Division 3, Stratford is the No. 9 seed and will play a regional quarterfinal at No. 8 Osseo-Fairchild on Thursday. The winner plays at No. 1 seed Elk Mound on May 21.

Neillsville/Granton is the No. 6 seed in the same bracket and will play a regional semifinal at No. 3 Altoona on May 21.
