WIAA Special Election for Board of Control and Advisory Council Positions

A special election will take place for three positions on the Board of Control and Advisory Council.

Board of Control –      Gender At-Large Representative – 3-year term

Advisory Council –      Gender At-Large Representative – 3-year term

Small School Representative – 1-year term (to replace Michael Endreas moving to the Board of Control)

District administrators, high school principals and assistants at these levels who are interested in being a candidate should state their intention via a letter to Kassie Mortimer ([email protected]) at the WIAA office.  Note:  Candidates must have (1) Department of Public Instruction licensure allowing placement in the eligible set, (2) must be employed full-time or part-time in a qualifying position and (3) cannot be members of the teachers’ bargaining unit.

Electronic voting will be used for this special election. More information and instructions will be emailed on July 16th.

The time line of the special election process is as follows:

July 12, 2021                     Announce that declarations of candidacy will be accepted.

July 14, 2021                     Deadline for filing declarations of intent to run.

July 16, 2021                     If more than twice as many candidates file, a primary election will be held. If a primary is not needed the general election ballot will start on this date.

July 25, 2021                     Deadline for returning primary election ballot. If a primary is not needed the general election ballot will be due back on this date.

July 26, 2021                     If primary is needed, general election ballots will start.

August 6, 2021                  If primary is needed, deadline for returning general election ballots.

August 13, 2021               Successful candidate will be seated for the Board of Control meeting.

Interested and eligible candidates should send or email a letter declaring their candidacy to the attention of Kassie Mortimer at the WIAA office [email protected] by the July 14th, 2021 deadline.
