The Edgar Wildcats won back-to-back WIAA Division 7 State Football Titles with a 19-0 win over Potosi/Cassville.

Edgar’s defense was the story, setting up all three of the Wildcat’s scores with two turnovers and a blocked punt.

Later in the first quarter, Edgar’s Preston Erickson blocked the punt from Aaron Edgar. That would set up a 12-yard touchdown run from Maverick Butt. Giving Edgar a 12-0 lead.

The defenses would take over from there, as neither team would get close to the endzone for the 2nd and 3rd quarters.

Edgar would get another opportunity late in the 4th, after a Gavin Mauer interception set Edgar up at the PC 12, Edgar would score on a fake field goal. Tucker Streit would connect with Butt. Jarvis Kofnet would hit the extra point, making it 19-0.

Edgar was led by Maverick Butt, 16 carries, 45 yards and a TD. Will Hackel would add 24 yards on 8 carries and a TD.

PC was led by Issiah Groom who ran 17 times for 77 yards. Joe Hass added 56 yards on 17 carries.
