CENTRAL WI, WI (OnFocus) – The Clark County Emergency Management team has issued a Winter Storm Watch for Clark, Taylor, Buffalo, Jackson, and Trempealeau Counties as a powerful weather system is expected to bring heavy snowfall and strong winds to the region.
A strong spring storm is forecasted to move through the area starting late Tuesday night, bringing a mix of rain and snow before transitioning into heavy snowfall by Wednesday afternoon. Meteorologists warn that a narrow band of heavy snow could develop in parts of the region, with accumulations ranging from 3 to 8 inches.
In addition to the snowfall, winds could gust as high as 40 mph, significantly reducing visibility and potentially creating blizzard-like conditions in affected areas. Nearby regions, including southwest Minnesota and northeast Iowa, may see even stronger gusts of up to 55 mph.
The Winter Storm Watch is in effect from late Tuesday night through late Wednesday night, with the most significant impacts expected throughout Wednesday morning and evening.
Counties under the Winter Storm Watch include:
- Clark
- Taylor
- Buffalo
- Jackson
- Trempealeau
Authorities warn that travel could become hazardous, particularly during peak commuting hours on Wednesday morning and evening. Low visibility, snow-covered roads, and strong winds may make driving dangerous.
Residents are advised to:
- Monitor weather updates from the National Weather Service and local emergency management agencies.
- Avoid unnecessary travel during the storm, especially if blizzard conditions develop.
Prepare emergency kits with food, water, blankets, and other essentials in case of power outages or travel disruptions. - Check on vulnerable individuals, such as the elderly or those with medical conditions, to ensure they have necessary supplies.
Residents should stay informed by following the latest forecasts and emergency alerts. Updates will be provided as the storm develops.
