Winter Storm Watch Issued for Central Wisconsin: Significant Icing and Hazardous Travel Expected

CENTRAL WI, WI (OnFocus) – The National Weather Service has issued a Winter Storm Watch for Clark and Taylor Counties, in effect from Saturday evening through Sunday evening. The alert warns of potentially dangerous winter weather conditions, including freezing rain, snow accumulation, and the risk of prolonged power outages.

According to forecasters, a west-to-east band of precipitation is expected to develop across the region on Saturday. As colder air arrives Saturday night, rain is expected to transition into freezing rain, with pavement temperatures falling to freezing or below.

Forecast Details:

  • Snow Accumulation: Up to 1 inch possible
  • Ice Accumulation: A glaze to a quarter-inch or more
  • Hazardous Conditions: Ice buildup on power lines and tree limbs may result in widespread and long-lasting power outages.
  • Travel Impact: Roads may become nearly impossible to navigate due to ice-covered surfaces.
