MARSHFIELD, WI (OnFocus) – The Wisconsin Department of Workforce Development released its unemployment numbers for May 2021.
The numbers depict Wood county as in the bottom third in the state for percentage of unemployed residents. The rate of unemployed residents was at 5.1 percent in April and has dipped to 4.5 percent in May of this year. Compare that to last May’s 10.9 percent (albeit during a pandemic) and that’s a 6.4 percent decrease. Out of 72 counties, Wood County ranks 54th in the state.
Clark and Taylor counties find themselves in the top-six in the state. Taylor county boasts a 2.8 percent unemployment rate which puts them at fourth in the state and Clark County has a three percent rate of unemployed residents which puts them at sixth in the state.
