Wisconsin Lutheran’s Knueppel Wins Boys 3-Point Challenge
MADISON, Wis. Kon Knueppel, a junior from Wisconsin Lutheran, won the 2023 boys 3-Point Challenge held Saturday morning at the Kohl Center in conjunction with the State Boys Basketball Tournament.
Knueppel, representing Division 2, was one of 10 participants in the 3-Point Challenge, which was held for the eighth time. He scored 20 points in the final round to win the contest. Senior Derek Shaw of Pulaski was second with 16 points in the final round.
Knueppel scored 15 points in the opening round and 22 in the semifinals. Shaw opened with 19 points and followed with a 22 in the second round.
Others advancing to the semifinals were senior Mason Debbink of Sheboygan North, sophomore Drew Kortz of Freedom and junior Ben Vasold of Watertown Luther Prep each score 15 in the first round. Debbink netted 16 three-pointers in the second round; Kortz connected on 18 in the second round; and Vasold converted on 16.
Other participants were junior Logan Alberson of Ladysmith, senior Vaughn Johnson of Cumberland, junior William Kelley of Florence and sophomore Anthony Rise of Brookfield.
