Wisconsin Rapids Boys Swimming Turns in Top Efforts in Meet vs. La Crosse

Lincoln High School Boys Swim Team vs. La Crosse Logan

The Lincoln High School Boys Swim Team faced off against La Crosse Logan in an exciting meet, with a final score of Logan 100 points to LHS 68. While the meet resulted in a loss, it was a night full of victories in personal records (PRs), thrilling comebacks, and individual event wins that left us celebrating our team’s resilience and growth.

Highlighted Performances:

  • Jose De La Cruz Chi, Brycen Henslin, Jathan Bessent and Joshua Glenzer-Czenczek took first in the 200 Medly Relay with a final time of 2:02.86.
  • Jathan Bessent claimed first place in the 100 Freestyle with an impressive time of 1:03.90.
  • Jose De La Cruz Chi also secured first place in the 100 Backstroke, finishing strong with a time of 1:11.33.

One of the standout moments of the night came in the 200 Boys Freestyle Relay, where the team of Erik Michalsen, Preston Engelbright, David Lee, and Jose De La Cruz Chi pulled off a remarkable upset. After a back-and-forth battle for second and third place, LHS surged ahead, securing second place in a thrilling finish that showcased their determination and teamwork.

Additionally, Jonathan Duerr, a sophomore, stepped up to the challenge in the grueling 500 Freestyle. Despite this being his first official attempt in the event, he shattered his practice time of 8:23.60, finishing with an outstanding time of 7:41.00. His performance exemplified the spirit of hard work and rising to meet new challenges.

Overall, the night was one to be proud of. Our team demonstrated perseverance, growth, and the heart of champions. As a coach, I couldn’t be prouder of the effort and energy our swimmers brought to the pool. This meet will be remembered as a reflection of their hard work and the strides they’ve made this season!
