Wisconsin Rapids (OnFocus) – Voters turned out in huge numbers to support area teams competing for this week’s title of OnFocus Team of the Week, February 7 – February 13.
A tight race saw Wisconsin Rapids Lincoln Girls Basketball surge ahead to pick up the title, collecting 360 votes.
It was a tight three-way race for second, with 24 votes separating second and fourth place. Medford Girls Basketball took second, receiving 269 votes. Right behind in third was Auburndale Girls Basketball with 256 votes, and fourth place went to Athens Girls Basketball, which had 245 votes.
Fifth place this week went to Marshfield Gymnastics, which had an impressive 150 votes, the highest vote total for a fifth place team this year.

- Athens Girls Basketball – The Blue Jays are headed to sectionals after winning their regional contests over the weekend. Athens handled Newman Catholic 51-30 in the regional semifinal, and then drubbed Rib Lake 66-38 in the regional final.
- Medford Girls Basketball – Call them Giant Killers if you’d like. Medford is on a roll, picking up three wins in the playoffs. Medford began the playoffs by defeating Rhinelander 59-53. The 4th seeded Raiders then took down #1 seed Mosinee, 55-52 in the regional semifinal. On Saturday, Medford defeated #2 seed Merrill, 47-35, to earn a trip to sectionals.
- Marshfield Gymnastics – The Tigers took first at the Great Northern Conference Large Division Meet on Friday. Marshfield’s finish at the top earned the Tigers a share of the GNC Gymnastics Conference title.
- Auburndale Girls Basketball – The Eagles overpowered Wild Rose 71-23 as Giorgi Schmutzer had 18 points and four three-pointers in the regional semifinal on Friday. Annamarie Aue then scored 22 points as the Eagles outlasted Iola-Scandinavia 56-48 to punch their ticket to sectional play.
- Wisconsin Rapids Girls Basketball – Wisconsin Rapids picked up a pair of regional wins, claiming its first regional title since 2010. Rapids handled La Crosse Central 58-39 in the regional semifinal and then pulled away with a strong second half in the regional final against Eau Claire North.
