  • Pumpkin bread is second, while pumpkin muffin is third.
  • Nearly 160 pumpkin-related searches were analyzed to reveal the state’s top five favorites.

A new study, perfect for the cozy fall season, reveals the pumpkin products Wisconsin residents search for the most.

Experts at JeffBet analyzed Google search data for 15 pumpkin products and 157 associated terms, identifying the most popular pumpkin-related search in Wisconsin. Pumpkin products included items like “pumpkin pie” and “pumpkin spice latte”, while search terms included phrases such as “best recipe” and “where to buy “.

1. Pumpkin Pie

Pumpkin pie has an average of 6,688 searches per month.

Traditionally served after Thanksgiving dinner, pumpkin pie is a harvest-time tradition in many American households. Puréed pumpkin is cooked and mixed with eggs, evaporated milk, sugar, and spices before being baked in a single pie shell. Both canned and fresh pumpkin can be used, with the variety known as “sugar pumpkins” being the most popular fresh option.

2. Pumpkin Bread

Pumpkin bread averages 4,007 searches per month.

Like banana bread, pumpkin bread is a type of moist quick bread using fresh or canned pumpkin. It is usually baked in a rectangular loaf pan and can include a range of additions such as walnuts, raisins, or chocolate chips.

3. Pumpkin Muffin

Pumpkin Muffin has an average of 2,032 monthly searches.

These muffins are extremely versatile and can be made plain for a quick breakfast option or covered in icing for a delicious sweet treat. The pumpkin flavor, combined with spices such as cinnamon, nutmeg, and ginger, makes a perfect fall snack or dessert.

4. Pumpkin Cheesecake

Pumpkin Cheesecake has a monthly average of 1,678 searches.

Pumpkin cheesecake is the perfect alternative for those who wish to deviate from the classic Thanksgiving pumpkin pie. A spiced graham cracker base is topped with a rich cream cheese and pumpkin filling and is usually baked using the water bath method.

5. Pumpkin Cookie

Pumpkin Cookie averages 1,492 searches each month.

Soft and chewy, pumpkin cookies are another delicious and versatile fall option. They can be kept plain to let the pumpkin spices shine through or spruced up with additions like chocolate chips. They can also be cut into different shapes, such as actual pumpkins or ghosts, making them great for Halloween.

Wisconsin’s top five favorite pumpkin products

Rank Pumpkin Product Average Monthly Searches
1 Pumpkin Pie 6,688
2 Pumpkin Bread 4,007
3 Pumpkin Muffin 2,032
4 Pumpkin Cheesecake 1,678
5 Pumpkin Cookie 1,492

Commenting on the findings, a spokesperson from JeffBet said: “With fall upon us, the beloved pumpkin will return to grocery stores across the country.

“However, millions of pumpkins in the U.S. are wasted each year and end up in landfills.

“One of the best ways to combat this is to use them in your cooking. Not only are pumpkins extremely versatile and flavorful, but they are also rich in antioxidants, vitamins, and minerals, making them good for your mind and your body.

“The variety of pumpkin products loved across the state shows just how much this humble ingredient can do. Whether it’s savory or sweet, there’s no shortage of ways to enjoy this fall favorite while also doing your bit for the environment.”

Methodology

Data was obtained from Google Keyword Planner.

First, a seed list of initial search terms was established based on terms related to pumpkin foods and drinks.

Then, the monthly average search volume for each term in each state was taken from Google Keyword Planner.

The total number of monthly average searches in the state was then compared with its population. This established the monthly average searches per 100,000 people.
