We take a look at Pacelli Cardinals Multi-Sport Athlete Chase Lyons, with our famous interview, ‘Pancakes or Waffles?’  Learn what makes the Cardinals’ standout ‘tick’…

OnFocus: What are your favorite subjects/classes and why?

Lyons: My favorite subject in school right now is AP Psychology because I like learning about how people work.

OnFocus: What are your hobbies?

Lyons: I like listening to music, spending time outdoors, cooking, cheering for the Bears, and watching superhero movies.

OnFocus: Who is/was your first favorite teacher and why?

Lyons: Mr. Zawacki was my favorite teacher because he made what we were learning fun and pushed me to be a better person.

OnFocus: What is the most unusual food you have eaten?

Lyons: Rocky Mountain oysters…

OnFocus: What is your favorite music to listen to?

Lyons: Yacht rock.

OnFocus:  What are your plans after high school?

Lyons: I want to go to college and study social work.

OnFocus:  If they made a movie about you, and your life, what would it be called?

Lyons: The Lyon(s) King.

OnFocus: What sports do you play?

Lyons: I play football and baseball.

OnFocus: Which teammate would you not want to be stranded with on a deserted island?

Lyons: Nolan Ott is one of my best friends but I don’t think we’d last long on a deserted island.

OnFocus:  What are some memorable moments you have had as an athlete?

Lyons: My first play ever as a freshman I got a sack.

OnFocus:  Who are your favorite athletes and/or teams?

Lyons: I’m a big Bears fan, which it’s been hard to be one but I’m optimistic for the future. I was raised a Bears fan because my Dad grew up in Illinois. Some of my favorite athletes growing up were Khalil Mack and Tarik Cohen. The 2018 Bears were a special team for me.

OnFocus: What do you enjoy most about competing in front of family, friends and fans?

Lyons: It’s nice to know that we have a group of people behind us with support. I like to go out there with my team and perform to the best of our abilities for them.

OnFocus:  Do you have a funny or unusual moment(s) you have experienced in sports?

Lyons: A funny moment I remember was during my freshman year when I played basketball. I wasn’t the best basketball player but I remember being on the bench and cheering my teammates on. I had fun bringing some energy to those JV2 basketball games. Not sure if it’s funny but definitely memorable.

OnFocus: What’s the best thing about being a student-athlete at Pacelli.

Lyons: The small school atmosphere. I love being able to make relationships with my teachers and get the most out of my education.

OnFocus:  What words of wisdom can you give to other student-athletes?

Lyons: To know your job/role on the team and do it to the best of your ability. Serve your teammates by giving all of yourself.

OnFocus: Lastly, pancakes or waffles?

Lyons: Got to be pancakes.
