TOWN OF REMINGTON, WOOD COUNTY, WI (OnFocus) – On 10/12/22 at 00:37 Remington and Pittsville Fire Departments were paged for a structure fire at Saddle Up Bar at 1582 STH 80, Babcock WI (Town of Remington) for a structure fire.
At 00:49 Rudolph and Vesper Fire Departments were paged for a fully involved house fire at 6095 CTH F, Wis Rapids WI (Town of Sigel).
These structure fires being 12 minutes and 19.1 miles apart, resulted in many mutual aid fire departments not being available for the Town of Sigel fire.
The Mutual Aid Box Alarm System (MABAS) used in most of Wisconsin allowed responding fire departments to quickly access resources from other area departments.
Fire departments responding to the 2 fires included Remington, Pittsville, Rudolph, Vesper, Wis Rapids, Arpin, Richfield, Grand Rapids, Port Edwards, Nekoosa, Plover, Rome, Armenia, and Necedah. Other firefighting resources included Wood County Central RIT and Rehab.
Other assisting agencies included Wood County Dispatch, Sherriff’s and Highway Departments, United Ambulance, Alliant Energy, Oakdale Electric, WE Energies, Bohn Excavating, and Kwik-Trip.
The Town of Remington fire was contained to an interior wall of the building, with moderate smoke and minimal fire damage. The fire is believed to be electrical in origin. No dollar loss estimate is available. There were no injuries.
The fire at 6085 CTH F in the Town of Sigel spread to another home in close proximity at 6097 CTH F. Both homes were completely destroyed. Origin of the fire was illegal outside burning of tires and other debris that spread to the house during windy conditions. No dollar loss estimate is available. There were no injuries, but several pets were lost in the fire. Displaced residents are being assisted by American Red Cross.
