WOOD COUNTY, WI (OnFocus) – Wood CountySheriff’s Department recently welcomed new K9 “Bingo,” a four-year old German Shepherd mix. He is trained in explosive detection, tracking for people, and patrol apprehension.
Bingo began his career in the United States Military, and had an early retirement in 2022. With his early retirement came the opportunity for the Wood County Sheriff’s Department to expand their K-9 division. Handler Sergeant Brandon Christianson was paired with Bingo, and attended the K-9 handler course at Jessiffany Canine Services in Iron Ridge, WI. On December 2, 2022 they successfully completed the course and returned to Wood County to begin their patrol duties.
“We want to thank the community and our K9 Foundation-ACACIA for their continued support of our K9 Unit,” the Wood County Sheriff’s Department said in a statement. “This support gave us the opportunity for this dog, something new to the Department and area. There are not many explosive detecting K9’s in Central Wisconsin.”
